In 1997 the 11 career firefighters employed by the Ridge Road Fire District organized to become the Ridge Road Professional Firefighters Association - Local #3794. Today the RRPFFA consists of 34 full time career firefighters who are proud members of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the New York State Professional Firefighters Association. The Ridge Road Fire District has employed career staff since 1922 and in 1959 the first career firefighter was sworn in.

The 4 groups of career firefighters work a 48 hour rotating schedule, (2) 10 hour days followed by (2) 14 hour nights then 4 days off. We staff 3 Engines, 1 Quint and 1 EMS/Rescue Squad which we operate out of 3 firehouses. We protect an area that covers approximately 15 square miles in the southern portion of the Town of Greece. Located within the Ridge Road Fire District is one of the busiest commercial corridors in Monroe County, West Ridge Rd. Also located in the district is Route 390, Canal Ponds Business Park, where Democrat & Chronicle, Johnson & Johnson and many other businesses are located, along with the Unity Hospital campus, the Mall at Greece Ridge Center, Kodak Business Park and ITT Space Systems. The career firefighters provide EMS, fire and rescue service to the thousands of residents and visitors to the Town of Greece and respond to over 7000 calls for service each year.

The Ridge Road Firefighters are very active within the community, whether it be for fire prevention, blood pressure checks, Smoke and CO Detector installation or car seat installs. We are also very active with scholarships and charitable organizations, such as the MDA and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (see the News & Calendar pages for a list of events and scholarships).
